Formed in London in late 2021, CROOKS INC. are a six-piece collective carving out their own space in the UK’s vibrant contemporary jazz landscape.
Bringing together vocals, saxophone, keys, guitar, bass and drums, their sound draws on the soulful sophistication of Erykah Badu, the genre-defying creativity of Hiatus Kaiyote and the contemporary jazz influences of artists such as Yussef Dayes and Yazmin Lacey.
Their music is both nostalgic and forward-looking — rooted in the irresistible grooves of 90s R&B, yet constantly finding new directions through jazz improvisation and collective experimentation.
With performances at London’s Jazz Cafe, The Great Escape and London Jazz Festival, alongside the release of their debut EP Kismet, CROOKS INC. are part of an exciting generation of musicians reshaping the boundaries between jazz, soul and contemporary music.
